Reminiscent of recent favorite Bend It Like Beckham, American Chai is a funny, fee-good coming-of-age story about an Indian-American college boy who deceives his traditional immigrant parents in order to follow his rock and roll dreams. Like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, the picture uses humor and a heart felt conviction to tell a story in which Americans of any ethnic background are likely to recognize something of their own experiences.
