Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bhaduri, David, Usha Kiron, Kesto Mukherjee, Om Prakash/ Dolby Digital Mono/English Subtitles
Dharmendra, a professor of Botany, impersonates a "Chowkidar" and then a chauffer. This creates some hilarious chaos and a few sensational confusions. The chowkidar, not able to hoodwink Sharmila for long, falls in love and marries her. But Dharmendra, the professor is confronted with the image of Sharmilas genius Jijaji-Om Prakash. A veritable storehouse---house of talent and intelligence, this jijaji is so overwhelming in Sharmilas thoughts and dreams that Dharmendra feels an urge to challenge the unseen rival and win for himself a respectable atatus in her eyes. To add to this crises, Dharmendra gets his friend Amitabh to impersonate himself and play Sharmilas husband. By this they are able to shake Om Prakash and Usha Kirans(his wife) composure completely but at the same time create an upsetting situation for the newly arrived imposter Amitabh. Amitabh pretending to be offended for the affair between chauffer and Sharmila, comes to stay with another friend Asrani, whose wife has a charming sister Jaya. Both Jaya and Asranis wife Lily Chakraborty, sympathise with Amitabh for the tragedy that has visited him presently but the proximity of jaya is so unnerving to Amitabh that he regrets the role assigned to him and falls head over heels in love with Jaya. This decent young kid is startled and bewildered to find the professor whose wife has run away only a few days ago can so soon manage to exhibit such surge of emotions towards her. Jaya does not mince her words, she tells him at his face that she hates him. A HILLARIOUS MOVIE!!
