Synopsis
Mazdoor is the saga of a poor worker with a rich dream. The man is Dinanath (Dilip Kumar), departmental foreman in Seth Hiralal's textile mill. His dream is to someday own a mill so that his workers will be treated as partners in the enterprise. One day Dinanath resigns rather than to apologize to the management for supporting his co-workers for a humanitarian cause. Ashok a talented orphan boy who Dinanath gave shelter to spurs Dinanath to rise above all adversity and somehow raise enough funds to buy a burnt down loom house that was selling cheaply. The loom house becomes the stepping-stone that leads Dinanath to the pinnacle of success. He becomes a prosperous mill owner, Seth Dinanath with the able support of Ashok, but that's when Smita enters their life bringing with her doom.
Smita is the only daughter of Mr Batra - Dinanath's benefactor and a rich industrialist. Smita had wished to marry Ashok but he was destined to marry Meena. So out of spite she marries Ramesh. Circumstances that follow cause Ashok to become homeless and his wife deserts him. Seth Hiralal moves in to oust Dinanath from his own mill too. To make matters worse Ashok joins Hiralal and an indefinite strike closes down Dinanath's business. Who succeeds in this business tangle? Who gets Ashok - Meena or Smita? Mazdoor's music is composed by R.D.Burman with the hit song "Hum Mehnatkash Is Duniya Se" & "Pehla Pehla Pyar". Mazdoor, produced by B.R.Chopra and directed by his son Ravi Chopra has a gripping plot full of exciting twists and of course a towering performance by the legendary Dilip Kumar.
