Synopsis :
Andaz is a story of two single parents Hema Malini (Shalini) & Shammi Kapoor (Ravi) who love lost their spouses Rajesh Khanna and Simmi Garewal respectively. While Hema was in love with Rajesh becomes a mother out of a socially acceptable wedlock and Rajesh dies in a tragic accident. She is a teacher in a school where Ravi's daughter studies too. Ravi's love for children had driven his wife to sacrifice her own life out of love even when she is advised not to become a mother by the doctors. Leading their individual lives both lonely hearts come together share their love and sorrow and finally decides to marry. But the socially unacceptable part of shalini becomes an obstacle which is exploited to his advantage by Ravi's lecherous brother Badal & Ravi's mother refuses to accept Shalini as here daughter-in-law. Badal ropes a village girl Aruna Irani and the blame comes on Ravi. However the truth comes out that Ravi was also born out of the wedlock and was adopted by his real mother under a lie. Badal is caught and Shalini and Ravi unite while their respective children get their own companions.
